At HAPO, we make banking simple for you. You deposit money at HAPO, and we loan that money out to another member. Credit unions traditionally offer lower lending rates and higher savings rates since we don't have outside stockholders to pay. The members of the credit union are the owners, so any profit made by the credit union is returned to the member-owners in the form of great rates, free or low cost services, and dividends.
